About the Location
Keng Kwee Street, or Lebuh Keng Kwee, is a short street in George Town. It runs from Penang Road to Kuala Kangsar Road and was built towards the turn of the 20th century. The land was donated by Kapitan China Chung Keng Kwee, aka Ah Quee, who was leader of the Hai San group of Hakka tin miners. It is one of the two roads in Penang named after him, the other being Ah Quee Street.
Today Keng Kwee Street is famous for its two Teochew Cendol stalls located on either sides of the street. These are the most famous cendol stalls in Penang. The coffee shop beside Keng Kwee Street is famous for its laksa and char koay teow.
Take the Free Rapid Penang Shuttle Bus to Bus Stop No. 8 (Lebuh Campbell) and walk a short distance along Penang Road to Keng Kwee Street.
Keng Kwee Street is known in Hokkien as Keng1 Kui1 Kay1.
